For those of you who have the love of applique stitching in your blood, we hope you enjoy this website.
The members of Southern Magnolia Applique Stitchers, known as SMAS, are all members of TAS (The Applique Society) and we would like to share our projects, designs, ideas and sometimes even techniques with you. We're encouraged to try all types of applique. Our expertise ranges from beginner to expert and includes several who have taught technique classes at various quilt shops. We love to share ideas and help each other when attempting a new technique or project.
Many members travel from various cities throughout Atlanta Georgia to attend meetings. We invite you to join our group, or, if you are traveling in the area, let us know and maybe we could share a "stitch-in".
We meet monthly, usually on the second Saturdays, approximately 10 a.m. through mid afternoon and these meetings are held in members homes and sometimes at local quilt shops. A great way to add to your "stash"!
SMAS members have always been interested in various types of needlework including all types of quilting, cross-stitch, needlepoint, even knitting and crochet. However, we really LOVE to applique. Our member's quilt "stash" alone could fill an entire quiltshop! OK, maybe two! We love fabric and love to experiment with different colors, patterns and threads to achieve interesting and beautiful effects.
